HOW TO MEASURE FOR A DRIVE SHAFT
The diagrams below will cover most vehicle, if you have something different please call the office and will explain where we would like you to measure from. We insure a 100% fit on all our shafts.
Measure from the edge of the transmission seal (NOT THE OUTPUT SHAFT) to the center of the rear joint, with the full weight of the vehicle on the rear springs (RIDE HEIGHT).
 To properly measure the rear end yoke first determine if the yoke has 2 tabs that would hold the joint centered.
If it does please give Dimension "A". Then measure the cup diameter which is dimension "B".
PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THESE MEASUREMENTS, THEY CHANGE IN INCREMENTS OF 1/16".
To help us give you the correct shaft please give us the following
information about the vehicle.
TRANSMISSION TYPE
If it is from a different vehicle we need the
YEAR, MAKE, & MODEL it came from. If it is a TH400 please tell us if the output shaft has a threaded hole in it.
DIFFERENTIAL TYPE:
If it is from a different vehicle we need the YEAR, MAKE, & MODEL it came from. Does it have a u-joint pinion yoke or a flat flange.B
If the car is being built for competition please give the HP, weight of car, size of rear tires, & if a transmission brake is being used PLEASE GIVE US RPM.
All shaft should be balanced to correct the rough casting of yokes and the imperfections of tubing. At The Drive Shaft Shop all of our shafts are balanced on a Hines Eliminator balancer.
